The Poinco Brothers, with their big eyes, pink cheeks and fluffy feathers, were launched by NTT Docomo, Japan’s largest telecommunications company.
The company first started using them as mascots in their many advertisements. And it was not long before videos and pictures of the brothers starting appearing on Chinese social media sites.
The characters have discussed over 27 million times on Chinese social media platform Weibo.
